PRE BOOKING
Am I insured?
Yes, we include comprehensive insurance coverage for up to 2 drivers for road traffic accidents or collisions. We operate an excess deposit of £1,000. Excess is the amount you’re required to pay when making an insurance claim.
Can I hire from outside the UK?
Yes, we offer to hire if you’re booking from inside the EU, or from any of the following countries: Andorra, Australia, Canada, Iceland, Liechtenstein, New Zealand, Norway, South Africa, Switzerland and the United States. Regrettably, we cannot currently accept bookings from country’s not listed due to restrictions around insurance.
Can I reduce the excess?
CDW stands for collision damage waiver and is currently not available.
Can I hire?
To hire a motorhome from H C Van ltd you need to meet certain requirements. You must be aged between 25 and 75 years old inclusive during the rental period and have held a full licence for at least 2 years. If you have any licence endorsements or recent insurance claims made against you be sure to check our Driver Eligibility page for full details.
Can I hire if I have made insurance claims in the past – am I eligible to rent?
A maximum of 2 claims within the last 3 years are allowed. H C Van Ltd can’t provide cover if you have had 2 or more insurance claims made against you in the last 3 years. Non-fault claims do not count towards this. Please contact us before booking if you have any questions.
Can I get online?
No.
Can I bring my dog?
Maybe. Having a dog ourselves we understand that a holiday is not a holiday if the whole family isn’t together, please get in touch to discuss with us.
Can I leave my car?
Yes, we offer free on-site parking for the duration of your holiday.
Do I need to bring bedding and towels?
Many customers prefer to bring their own bedding & towels but we can supply these items at an additional one-off cost for your convenience – £50 per double set, £25 per single set.
Do I need to bring pots, pans and plates?
No. Every motorhome is fully kitted out with pans and crockery, glassware and cooking utensils.
Do the motorhomes come with Isofix?
Yes- on our Roller team vehicles. No on all others, child seats need to be compatible with a standard 3 point seat belt please.
Do I need a special licence?
No. All motorhomes weigh less than 3,500kg and can be driven on a standard UK category B licence.
How do I book?
It’s simple. Click here and fill in the booking request form. Your motorhome adventure is booked in a few simple clicks – no need to make phone calls or email us.
How long do I have to pay?
You will need to pay a deposit of 20% upon making your booking. the balance will need to be made no later than 6 weeks before you pick up the motorhome.
How many people can travel/sleep in the motorhome?
We have 4, 5 and 6 berth Motorhomes, although our 4 and 5 berth with fixed bed make a Luxury 2 berth holiday home (all our vehicles have the same number of travelling seats as sleeping places)
Is it just me that can drive?
You can have up to 2 named drivers (additional on request for a £20 fee). But all drivers must be present at pick-up with the relevant paperwork. So just because you have booked doesn’t mean you have to do all (or any) of the driving.
I have points on my licence - can I drive?
If you have accrued a maximum of 6 penalty points from minor convictions we can accept you for hire. However, if you have more than 6 points or have had a major conviction or disqualification, H C Van Ltd cannot cover you.

Minimum I can hire for?
You can rent for just 3 nights off peak. Our minimum hire period changes depending on the time of year you are travelling:-
October through to June* – 3 nights
July, August and September – 7 nights
*15th December through to 6th January -7 Nights

What if I cancel my booking?
Plans can and do change. Unfortunately, we do have to charge you in the event of a cancellation. The amount you will be charged depends upon how close you are to the booking date when making your cancellation. Please see below for the details:
Cancellation charges:
More than 6 weeks before the Booking – the Booking Deposit
4 – 6 weeks – 40% of the total booking charge
2 – 4 weeks – 60% of the total booking charge
2 – 14 days – 80% of total booking charge
2 days – No Show – 100% of total booking charge

Will the motorhome have fuel in?
Yes, when you collect your motorhome, it will have a full tank of fuel. We ask that you refill the tank before dropping off at the end of your holiday.
Where can I collect the Motorhome?
Pick-up Location: Pershore Road, Birmingham, B29
What time can I pick up my motorhome?
Our standard pick-up time is between 3pm and 5pm. However, we understand that our customers want to make the most of their motorhome experience and, with that in mind, we will try to accommodate earlier collections on a request basis.
During busy periods, early collection is less likely to be available and we won’t be able to confirm until the day of travel.
What time do I return it?
We ask you to return and unload your motorhome by 11.00am please (our office opens at 9am). Failure to do so could impact another customer’s holiday and will attract late return charges of £75 per hour.
We recommend that you stay within 2 hours of Birmingham on your last night to ensure a stress-free end to your holiday.
What do I need to do to return the motorhome?
We ask you to…
Empty the cassette toilet and water tank at a designated area
Remove rubbish and general waste from the motorhome and empty the bins
Refill the tank with fuel
Wash dishes and ensure the oven and grill are cleaned
What if I don’t know how to use a motorhome / I have never been in a motorhome?
Don’t worry, we allow 30mins to walk you through your holiday home (Don’t panic, if you need more time, we are happy to oblige) We’ll introduce you to the vehicle and all its main functions and controls. There is a user guide we have written specifically for people with no experience.
Where can I go in the motorhome?
If you’re traveling to Europe, simply select the ‘Europe Travel’ option when booking page. You will receive a ‘Vehicle on Hire’ certificate and equip your motorhome with a European Travel Kit.
The following countries are covered:
Andorra, Iceland, Norway, Republic of Ireland, Serbia, Switzerland, the UK and all current member countries of the European Union.
European travel outside of the countries listed is not permitted and will not be covered by any insurance.

We are located in Birmingham and are conveniently located near to a major international airport and the motorway, and are a short drive from some of the UK’s most beautiful and popular destinations.
